Snow chains for vehicles are not legally required to be carried on the Alpine Way between Jindabyne and Thredbo, the NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) recommend that two-wheel-drive vehicles travelling along the Alpine Way between Jindabyne and Thredbo carry properly-fitting snow chains in winter and that they be fitted when directed by roadside signage at chain bays or authorised NPWS, RMS and Police officers. All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) and Four-Wheel-Drive (4WD) vehicles are not required by law to carry snow chains, however given that the majority of AWD vehicles have tyres fitted that are unsuitable for driving on snow and ice, the RMS recommends that AWD vehicles carry chains as well, especially if drivers have little experience driving on snow or ice. Chains can be hired at service stations and ski-hire shops in the region.

Talara Ski Club has two dedicated car parking spaces. Overnight parking is available at Friday Flat.
